SIMULATOR OF THE POSITION OF THE SUN IN THE SKY

	If the screen below remains empty, you should download a fresher version of JAVA (JRE) at the Web site of the Sun Company. It takes 1 or 2 minutes and is completely automatic. No need to restart the computer. If it does not work, call the computer administrator.
	Using this software implies the acceptance of the licence conditions (see file license_en.pdf).
		1) enter latitude (degree and decimals) and date (day/month/year) then click on Calculate 2) Click on the graph to get time (true solar time, in hour), elevation and azimuth of the sun (in degree). (In the Northern hemisphere, azimuth is 0 ° southwards. In the Southern hemisphere, it is 0 ° northwards. In both cases, it is -90 ° eastwards and 90 ° westwards.)
		This Java applet computes the position of the sun in the sky (zenith, azimuth) at any instant of the day as well as the hours for sunset and sunrise. Customer may change day and latitude. Time is solar time. Dragging the mouse on the curve provides the angular position of the sun (azimuth, elevation), which is displayed below. The night hours are presented in grey. The equations used are those described in the European Solar Radiation Atlas (see the ESRA handbook, volume 2). Free software is available.
